Introduction To Global Warming

It is a fact that the average temperature of the earth is increasing rabidly due to green house gases caused by human’s industrial activities. That raising in the temperature is called “Global Warming”. (Maslin, 2004)

Human activities have increased the emission of the green house gases which are Carbon Dioxide CO2, Methane CH4, tropospheric ozone, chlorofluorocarbons CFCs, and nitrous oxide N2O. These gases are released from cars, air conditioners, refrigerators, landfills, burning fossil fuels, fertilizers, fire extinguishers, nylon production, cleaning solvents, and heat pumps. (Houghton, 2004)

In my opinion, global warming is an issue that threatening the environment and our lives. For instance, melting of icecaps caused a rising in the sea level. Consequently, it will lead to coastal flooding such like tsunamis. Furthermore, the rising in temperature is warming the sea surface and evaporation will increase due to warmer oceans. In addition, the rate of species extinction will increase, beside the spread of malaria carried by mosquitoes. Moreover, more people will suffer from skin cancer. (Houghton, 2004)

In conclusion, the rise in greenhouse gases increases the amount of heat trapped in the atmosphere. It is our responsibility to improve the environment as individuals. We should concentrate on preventing environmental degradation before it starts
